A few weeks ago, I picked Skyler up from preschool. When I got there she ran up to me so excited about something very special that had happened that day... she had been picked to be the teacher's special helper. She wore a badge all day, got to stand first in line, helped pass out snacks and the best treat of all: take home the classroom pet.
The class pet is Peggy the Pig. Peggy travels with her own carrying bag, blanket and journal. Each student eventually has their turn to take Peggy home and write down all of their adventures in the journal and add a photo. Then when Peggy returns, the teacher reads all about it to the class. Skyler was so happy to have Peggy stay with us for the weekend.
Peggy watched Skyler's sports class, played in the park, played Candyland, went to the Kids Fair and slept in Skyler's big girl bed with her every night.
